OUR STORY

Randy and Theresa Murray, formed Randy Murray Productions in 1991 as a small creative boutique that told stories in service to the greater good with film and video for broadcast and business.

The company quickly grew into a source of creative content and a reliable resource for productions coming to Arizona. In 1995 Randy Murray Productions created its own post-production company, Postal.

In 2002 Randy Murray Productions joined Ken Easley Photography to purchase the historic KPHO television studio in downtown Phoenix and renovated it into First Studio, a production center housing a number of entertainment-based companies. Randy and Theresa later bought Ken out.

In 2021 RMP celebrated 30 years of storytelling and using the power-of-story to make our world and community a better place.

OUR APPROACH

Strategic objectives guide our creative process and lead us to story based solutions that are focused on a predetermined viewer response. At every juncture we make decisions based on what’s right for the project and we work creatively, transparently, collaboratively and efficiently. Whether tackling tough issues in documentaries or TV shows, leading viewers to feel the power of need in a community, maybe even cry, or creating laughter to help sell a product that can increase efficiency and quality of life – we approach the job of ‘telling a story’ the same way.

OUR BACKSTORY

Randy and Theresa Murray joined forces to form Randy Murray Productions in 1991. Prior to that Theresa was a Legal Administrator at a major law firm in Phoenix and Randy was Director of Marketing and staff Writer/Producer/Director at the largest production facility in the Southwest called Desert Production Center, DPC.

A graduate of Arizona State University, Randy’s career began when the Phoenix ABC affiliate signed a barter deal with him to turn one of his senior projects into a weekly rock-n-roll TV show called Wavelength. With partners he formed WAVE Productions in 1980 to produce the show and other projects. After Wavelength Randy joined the local NBC affiliate, KPNX, to produce the nightly entertainment talk show, Finn & Friends. In the late 1980’s he joined the staff of Phoenix Production Center, and two years later he helped manage the merger with KTVK’s Desert Productions, forming DPC.

For fun we have archived some of the old shows and reels from Randy’s early career on this Vimeo link. Feel free to take enjoy and share.

Randy and Theresa are active in the community, both serving on boards and giving their time. They have been married since 1975, have two adult children and two grandchildren.
